Interior Decoration & Furniture of the Italian Renaissance

by Frida Schöttmuller - 1921

The following document is the English text from the American version (published by Brentano's of New York) of Frida Schöttmuller's Wohnungskultur und Möbel der Italienischen Renaissance (published in English as Interior Decoration and Furniture of the Italian Renaissance). I have reproduced the text as printed, save for the correction of obvious typographic errors, while the page layout has been somewhat modified to conform to the constraints of HTML. While the translation leaves much to be desired, there is still a fair amount of valuable information that can be gained by a careful reading. Editorial comments are at the bottom of each page in sans-serif font. Some of the plates referenced in the text can be found in the "Pictures" section of this site - I simply don't have time and space to scan all 450+ pictures from the book.
